The Frigyes Turán, Gábor Zsíros duo, starting from the
first place on Sunday morning and being the fastest on the 3 out of the
four specials on Sunday, won the 42nd Allianz Rallye, so they could
keep their third place in the open rally championship point chase. The
Norbert Herczig, László Baranyai duo, being the fastest on today’s one
special, can also be satisfied with their second best position since
they lead the open championship and could even increase their vantage
to 88 points. The Spitzmüller, Kazár duó, having dropped out out at the
Rallye and having 69 points, is wedged between them.

András Kövesdán and László Varga came in first at the
Historic field of the 42nd Allianz Rallye. They were the fastest on 8
out of the 13 special stages and finally acquired a vantage of 26,1
seconds. The Wirtmann-Schneer duo came in second in a Ford Escort while
the Gáll-Ferjáncz pair gained the third best.

Although Frigyes Turán won ’only’ the last three special stages
out of the six, he had the best of the running at the 42nd Allianz
Rallye on Saturday evening. Leading pilots, such as Tamás Turi, csaba
Spitzmüller, then György Aschenbrenner, had to finish the race
untimely. The battle of the A6 group was curiosity, since four pairs
from Baranya County ’hired’ the best positions all day long.

Hardly had the last speed section of the second round (Nyárásvölgy)
started when the mecsek rallye ended for the Spitzmüller Csaba, Kazár
Miklós pair. Their Mitsubishi fell into the woods on a narrow section
soon after the start, in spite of being the third best till then. The
pilots did not get injured, the salvage truck removed the car, and the
speed section was contiuned as an etap.

After the technical acceptance on Friday morning altogether 138
pairs ( 89 in rallye 1, 33 in rallye 2 and 16 in the Historic-cup)
could toe the line at Parc Ferme put up at Vörös Autóház. The firs
racing car could roll off to the slalom course of the usual
spectator-luring opening round, the Prologue at Pécs Plaza. The
last car shot the finish late in the evening – it was partly due to the
official opening ceremony. This time the last came in first: Norbert
Herczig and László Baranyai , starting from the last in the line with a
No.1 start-number traditionally, performed the crooked course in a
Subaru Impreza WRC.
